Sourafel Girma

Professor of Industrial Economics

"One of the questions you might reasonably ask about China in light of its economic rise is: 'How good can it get?' Another, intrinsically related to the first, might be: 'Is there anything it could actually do better?'

These are considerations of immense significance, particularly with growing doubts surrounding free market development as proposed by the Washington consensus and a nascent tendency among emerging economies to look to China as a role model. Industrial economics can help provide the answers by showing us how firms, industries and markets relate to each other. And, in case you're wondering, much of the evidence suggests China can do better."
