Description

History Education Subject Interest Group (SIG)

As part of our commitment to our partnership schools, we are inviting secondary mentors, other history colleagues and current beginning teachers to attend our Subject Interest Group (SIG). The idea behind the SIG is to provide opportunities for professional dialogue and development.

In search of LGBT+ histories: sources, methods, debates with Dr Onni Gust, University of Nottingham

This seminar will explore definitions of LGBT+ in historical contexts and present some case studies which could support curriculum development.

We will then hear from Becky Carter (History Teacher, Farnborough Academy) who will also be presenting on how she has developed a scheme of work around LGBT+ Rights in C20th and incorporated this into the existing programme of study in her school context.  She will also be presenting on this theme at both TM History Icons and SHP this year.

This session will be relevant for history teachers at all levels who are interested in developing their curriculum to include a wider range of voices and to incorporate some of the new moves in history education.

Registration is from 4.30pm, at which point light refreshments will be available.  The seminar will start at 5pm and finish by 7pm.
