English Language Support for Refugees
Students on the MA Teaching English to Speakers of Other Langauges (TESOL) course studying in Nottingham have the opportunity to take part in a Nottingham Advantage Award (NAA) module - English Language Support for Refugees - voted NAA module of the year for 2018.
This module allows you to work with Nottingham Citizens to provide language teaching to refugees who need general and functional English language to survive and adapt to life in the UK. This will provide you with an opportunity to put into practice knowledge and skills already acquired in the teaching of ESOL.
Applications for 2019 will be open later this year.
Assessment will involve the submission of reflective portfolio based on 12 hours peer teaching and reflection on feedback from at least one lesson observed by module convener. The portfolio will include examples of lesson plans, materials and commentary on the teaching process and skills and knowledge acquired, and will be submitted at the end of the module.
