Course overview

Summer School is an opportunity to experience short study blocks during the summer vacation. Attracting participants from the UK and around the world, this is a vibrant learning community working with leading figures in the field of education.

Modules offered for Summer School 2019


  • All new starters to attend induction morning

Week One (29 July to 2 August)

  • Practice Based Inquiry
  • Effective Leadership and Change in Education
  • Educating Students on the Autism Spectrum

Week two (5 August - 9 August)

  • Leading Learning

Current students

Current students, studying part-time on the MA Special Needs/Special and Inclusive Education (online or face-to-face programmes) are strongly encouraged to take one module at Summer School. You do not need to re-apply.

Current students, studying part-time on the MA Education or MA Educational Leadership and Management online programmes are allowed to study one module face-to-face and can therefore study a module through Summer School. You do not need to re-apply.

Visit the 'How to Apply' section within the course information you wish to apply for your course and please note, applications for Summer School should be received by 1 July.

Summer School has been really enlightening and inspiring. I have enjoyed re-activating my mind and meeting such a diverse range of people, each with their own academic journey and vastly different contexts.

Please note, modules will only run subject to meeting the minimum number of students required. Any travel arrangements you make before we confirm that a module is going ahead are made at your own risk.
