All trainees who successfully complete the School Direct course with us will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status and will gain a PGCE with masters level credits.
De Ferrers is a highly successful and ambitious 11-18 Academy catering for over 2,100 students, situated on the outskirts of Burton-Upon-Trent. We have received national and international recognition for the work we are currently doing on transforming teaching and learning through the use of Apple technology.
As the Burton-Upon-Trent Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC), trainees with us will be provided with outstanding opportunities to access and develop their teaching in a modern, forward thinking educational establishment. This was confirmed through our recognition as an Apple Distinguished Programme school.
School Direct Primary trainees who are on placement at the schools below will be supported in their placement school throughout the year by a school mentor. All school mentors receive mentor development offered by the University in order to support their trainee.
Trainees will also be supported throughout the year by an experienced University tutor, and will have the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside other School Direct trainees on a Friday at the University.
