We are pleased to be offering School Direct Secondary places for academic year 2018/19 in partnership with schools across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby, Derbyshire, Burton and Lincolnshire.
The School Direct course awards the prestigious University of Nottingham PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status and up to 60 masters credits (towards an MA Education). It prepares you to teach in secondary schools (ages 11-16).
This route enables you to apply to a school of your choice in which you will spend most of the year. Induction takes place at the end of August and then you will follow your school calendar for the duration of their academic year.
You will also complete a placement in a second school that promotes collaborative learning and broadens your experience.
There are a number of days spread over the year based at the University where you will be part of a vibrant cohort of beginning teachers.
We have a very strong, collaborative partnership which supports your development as a beginning teacher. University tutors, school coordinators and mentors all work closely with you, and each other, throughout the year to support and challenge you to develop into the best teacher you can be.
You will need to apply to a specific school/alliance through UCAS - please see the following links for more information. Early applications are advised as the award of places will be highly competitive and made on a first come first served basis.
