This page contains basic information about the University's Learning Technology Section. Its content is primarily aimed at staff based within the UK, but may also be of interest to colleagues in China and Malaysia.

What you need to know

The Learning Technology Section is part of University of Nottingham Libraries and helps support the digital learning goals of the University. It works closely with senior leaders to understand and shape strategic direction and tailored support.

The section, as a whole, is made up of several teams which focus on providing different types of support.

Faculty and School Support Team

The Faculty and School Support Team is a frontline team of consultants that works closely with academic colleagues and students, to embed the use of digital learning tools and pedagogy across the University.
 

Learning Systems Team

The Learning Systems Team is a technical team which develops, tests and implements a range of learning technologies. This includes Moodle (our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)) - and ExamSys (our e-assessment system), as well as its own and third party open source software.

Learning Content Team

The Learning Content Team provides a range of support for digital learning content. This includes a fully-featured video production service in support of teaching and learning activities, such as the annual Teaching and Learning Conference.

The Team also provides consultancy support for a wide range of digital learning content, working across a wide range of multimedia to develop engaging and effective content to support teaching and learning at the University.

MOOCs and NOOCs Team

The University has delivered Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the FutureLearn platform since 2013. The MOOCs and NOOCs team helps to support this work by providing consultancy support around course design and delivery.

This team manages the Nottingham Open Online Courses (NOOCs) programme which delivers a range of online courses to students across all of the UK, China and Malaysia campuses.
