Dr. Lee Lai Yee obtained her Bachelor degree and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. Her PhD research work involved the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by low pressure drop silicalite monoliths. Dr Lee is a chartered member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and fellow of Higher Education Academy UK (FHEA). She is also a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia and Board of Engineers Malaysia. She has established research in the field of water and wastewater treatment, nanotechnology and thermochemical conversion of biomass waste into value added products at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. Her current research focuses on the development of graphene, carbon nanotube and nanocrystalline cellulose composites, biochar, biosorbent and activated carbon for environmental pollution control and product recovery from industrial effluent, as well as synthesis of bio-fuel from agricultural waste. Her research also involves application of nanomaterials in energy storage and bioplastic development.

Dr. Lee Lai Yee is currently the module convener of Engineering Thermodynamics (H81ETD), Separation Processes 1 (H82SP1) and Process Engineering Principles (H81PEF). She is also involved in the supervision of BEng design projects, MEng Projects and final year R&D projects.
