Professor Xiaolin Meng is Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation, Professor of Intelligent Mobility and Theme Leader of Positioning and Navigation Technologies at the Nottingham Geospatial Institute within the University of Nottingham. He is founding director of the Sino-UK Geospatial Engineering Centre, a dedicated international centre for technology exchanges. He has been Special Professor of the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping and Wuhan University in China since 2004 and 2006, respectively. He holds a PhD in Highway, Urban Road and Airport Engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai where he was also appointed as Guest Professor in 2010, and a PhD in Space Geodesy from the University of Nottingham. He is the author of more than 300 journal and international conference papers. His research focuses include integrated location and sensing sensor systems for intelligent transport systems and services, location-based services, structural health monitoring of long bridges, advanced geodetic data processing, precise GNSS and Earth Observation for wide engineering and environmental applications, etc. He is currently leading multi-million ESA and Innovate UK grants on structural health monitoring and driverless vehicle projects. He has been chair for special study groups of the key international associations and sits on a number of editorial boards for international journals.
