Khin Fai Chen

Mr Chen is a lecturer at the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

He graduated from University of Nottingham in Mechanical Engineering in 2010 and employed in one of the biggest battery manufacturer in Asia as Product Engineer. Whilst practicing engineering, he had undertook part-time postgraduate course from the same university and graduated in 2012.

During his full-time undergraduate and part-time postgraduate studies, he is actively involve in engineering design competition. In 2009, he is elected as Chief Engineer for FS SAE competition and was responsible for design of chassis and suspension system. In 2011, he is elected as Project Manager and leading a team of six engineers in BOSCH Power Tools Cordless Race 2011 Asia. His team managed to finish as top 12 finalist out of 50 teams. In 2012, he is elected as Project Manager for Shell Eco Marathon Asia.

Expertise Summary

Mr Chen is particularly interested on the work of renewable and sustainable energy research. This includes solar energy, wind energy and micro energy harvesting.

Expertise in research includes distributed parameter mathematical modeling, acoustical micro energy harvesting and piezoelectricity.

He is currently actively involved in researches in micro energy harvesting from ambient environment and sustainable energy reclamation.
