Bahman Ghiassi

Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering



Dr Bahman Ghiassi is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He was previously awarded three highly selective fellowships including a Marie Curie IF fellowship at TU Delft, Netherlands, (2016-2018) and an FCT Individual fellowship postdoctoral award at the University of Minho, Portugal, (2014-2016). He Achieved his PhD in Structural Engineering, on December 2013, from the University of Minho (Portugal). He also holds an MSc in Earthquake Engineering (Iran) and a BSc in Civil Engineering (Iran).

Dr. Ghiassi was selected as one of the two RILEM's Gustavo Colonnetti medalists in 2019 for his "outstanding scientific contribution to the field of construction materials and structures". He is a member of editorial board of the ASCE Journal of Composites for Construction, International Journal of Masonry Research and Innovation and the open access journal of Materials. He has also has been a member of several international scientific committees and conferences.

Dr Ghiassi is also a member of the Centre for Structural Engineering & Informatics Research Group.
