Current Research

I am working on the optimization of laser-assisted cold spray (LACS) for Ni-based corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) for structural repairs. Deposition of high strength, corrosion-resistant alloys (CRA) with cold spray (CS) technology still have challenges due to the low plasticity of materials compared to other alloys. Deposition efficiency is not enough in the critical velocities for CRA materials using the Cold Spray process.

The aim of this project is to combine of Cold Spray process with Laser Beam technology to improve the deposition efficiency and mechanical properties of Ni-based CRA materials as-sprayed on the substrate. Process parameters window between CS and LACS process will be researched and powder properties' effects on mechanical properties will be investigated.
