The 2020 Fell-Benedikz lecture is Showered with Praise: Talking about the Weather in the Viking Age presented by Dr Hannah Burrows. This lecture will focus on the talk of the weather in Tenth-Century Skaldic poetry. Dr Burrows is the Director of the Centre for Scandinavian Studies at the University of Aberdeen.

The Fell-Benedikz lecture is held every two years to commemorate the life and work of Professor Christine Fell, OBE, and Dr Benedikt S. Benedikz. Professor Fell was Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Nottingham (1986 - 89) and Head of the School of English (1990 - 1993). She established Nottingham as a leading centre for Viking Studies. Dr Benedikz was Head of Special Collections at the University of Birmingham (1973 - 1995) and a member of the University of Nottingham's College of Benefactors. He was closely involved in Viking Studies in the School of English and delivered the first Fell-Benedikz lecture in 2000.
