TOEBI 2026

Overview

The 2026 Teachers of Old English in Britain and Ireland meeting will be hosted by the School of English, University of Nottingham. TOEBI is a supportive and collegial conference for anyone who is interested and/or involved in the teaching of Old English language and literature.

We invite contributions to three different strands: a syllabus swap in which colleagues are invited to discuss successful (and perhaps also not successful) courses/modules on teaching language, culture and/or literature as well as techniques which make Old English accessible to a wider community of learners.

The second activity is an invitation to participate in a round table on assessments, especially in view to AI-generated work and the third is a twenty-minute paper on teaching diversity in Early Medieval England.
