Off The Page creative writing event series
A series of guest talks, readings and conversations with established and emerging writers.
The Off the Page event series was established in 2019, with inaugural guest Roddy Doyle. Events are usually open to members of the public, as well as University of Nottingham students and staff. The series is organised by creative writing lecturers in the School of English.
Hybrid writings: Lisa Robertson
Poet Lisa Robertson reads from her debut novel The Baudelaire Fractal. Part memoir, part novelistic magical realism, part trash-talking contemporary art and poetry life, the new prose text slowly unravels a mystical experience – that of waking up in a hotel room one morning to discover that Robertson has written the complete works of Baudelaire.
Experimental poetry: Camilla Nelson
Poet and artist Camilla Nelson will be showing new work, including a performance of A Yarn Er Narrative (Contraband, 2019) that moves between sounds and words. A highly recommended event from a dynamic poet working experimentally between artistic forms.
Nosa Eke talking to first-year students
Writer and director Nosa Eke is visiting campus to talk to our first-year students on 31 Oct! Nosa will be chatting to students from 5-6pm in A41, Clive Granger Building.
