Biography

LLB, Queen's University; BA (Hons.) Literature, Open University; MA English (Irish) Writing, Queen's University; Ph.D., University of Ulster

I joined the University of Nottingham's Applied English Team in 2019, creating and delivering innovative content for future distance learning programmes with a focus on dramatic writing and performance. Before that I was a Teaching Affiliate at the University of Nottingham, and personal tutor on on the MA English Studies by web-based. I am an Associate Fellow of Advance Higher Education.

Expertise Summary

My research is in written and performative representations of the pained and suffering female body in Irish theatre. More specifically, it examines how these representations of corporeal and psychological 'imperfection' and difference trouble dominant cultural scripts surrounding normalcy, ableism and femininity.

I have taught for four years on English Language, Literature and Drama degree programmes, specialising in the history, theory and practice of dramatic writing and theatre production. As a Teaching Affiliate with the University of Nottingham, I have taught on undergraduate modules Drama, Theatre and Performance and Twentieth-century Plays, and, PG Distance Learning Modules What is Literature? and Approaches to Text.
