  • Literatures in English from the Anglo-Saxons to the present day
  • Older Scots literature
  • Individual authors, especially but not only Blake, Coetzee, Dickens, Langland, Lawrence, McEwan, Pope, Shakespeare, Southey, Swift, Wilde, Woolf
  • Drama of all periods, with a particular focus on drama as performance
  • Modern English language, applied linguistics, literary linguistics, psycholinguistics
  • Historical language study including place-names
  • Old Norse and Viking Studies
  • Creative Writing
