Andy Nolan

Andy Nolan

Director of Development and Sustainability

An experienced director-level professional with expertise in sustainable development, estate management, cities, universities, governance, policy and strategy. 20 years of experience working in both the private and public sector. Has worked within a local authority, in multi-authority partnerships locally and nationally. Experience in higher education across four universities in the UK plus representative bodies.

As Director of Development & Sustainability I am responsible for the development of the University Masterplan, the University’s capital programme, the University’s sustainability strategy, utilities management and carbon reduction targets.

Richard WiggintonRichard Wigginton

Head of Capital Projects

Richard has worked in construction for over 35 years, that time has been spent working entirely in the public sector either in local government or at the University of Nottingham. He has dealt with many types of construction and construction related projects, working to deliver or provide research, sport, teaching, health, and office facilities.

Richard, who hails from Nottingham, has been a member of the RICS since 1993. He joined the HE sector in 2000 and is now Head of Capital Projects at the University. Richard leads a team of 8 project managers, all construction or property professionals that work to deliver the Estates capital programme.

Senior Capital Projects Manager

James has worked in construction for over 20 years, that time has been spent working, initially in consultancy at Carter Walker, Davis Langdon & Everest and EC Harris and later joining the University of Nottingham. He has dealt with many types of construction and construction related projects, including social housing, academic buildings, offices, laboratories and many others.

James, who is from Nottingham, has been a member of the RICS since 2005. He joined the University in 2009 and is now Senior Capital Projects Manager at the University. James’ projects that he has had full responsibility for at the University include George Green Library, Teaching & Learning Building, Orchard Hotel and Centre for Biomolecular Sciences Expansion.

 

 

Jonathan LeedingJonathan Leeding

Capital Projects Manager

Jonathan has worked in the construction industry for five years. He studied Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham and began his career in consultancy as a quantity surveyor. He obtained membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2017 before moving to focus on project management. Prior to joining University the majority of Jonathan’s experience was in the education sector on a number of primary schools and higher education projects.

Jonathan joined the Capital Projects team at the University in April 2019 and has become involved in a variety of schemes at University Park and Sutton Bonington. These range from refurbishing halls of residence to reconsidering campus public realm.

Stavros PouricasStavros Pourikas

Capital Projects Manager

Stavros studied at the University of Nottingham Department of Architecture and Built Environment. He worked as an Architect for 10 years before returning as a member of staff. He has a varied experience on all stages of the building industry, from feasibility and sketch design to full detail and project management to completion.

Stavros joined the Capital Projects in 2014 and is now Capital Projects Manager at the University. Projects he has delivered for at the University include the Ingenuity Centre at Jubilee Campus, the Student Service Centres on various campus locations, Hipps Café at Medical School as well as more recent projects such as the Rights Beacon and Precision Imaging Beacon.

Ashley RobertsAshley Roberts

Capital Projects Manager

Ashley studied at the Universities of Liverpool and Nottingham, qualifying and working as an Architect in the private sector before returning to the University in 2015 to work in the development team. He has experience through the entire range of construction stages, working both as a designer and project manager.

Since working at the University Ashley has been involved in a wide range of projects, including the expansion of the Centre for Dairy Science Innovation and construction of the Research Acceleration & Demonstration (RAD) Building on Jubilee Campus, a complex building designed to strict sustainability standards. More recently he has taken over the management of the refurbishment of North Lab and is the estates lead on the SVMS expansion to accommodate their second intake.

 

Brendan SextonBrendan Sexton

Capital Projects Manager

Brendan has worked in the construction industry for 15 years, working in Ireland, Australia and the UK. He is a qualified Architect, with design experience in large scale residential, archival, research and Higher Education Sectors ranging in values from £2m to £80m. He is an experienced Project Lead Designer and Building Information Modelling (BIM) Manager.

Brendan joined the University in 2019 as a Capital Projects Manager and looks after a portfolio of new build and refurbishments across the campuses 

Debbie SmithDebbie Smith

Capital Projects Manager

Debbie joined University of Nottingham in April 2019 having previously been working for Pulse Associates as a Cost Consultant. In her role she worked on various projects including community hubs & sports grounds, conference centre refurbishments, new build, conversion & refurbishment of student accommodation and teaching space fit-out. Clients included University of Warwick, Aston, Leicester, Lincoln and NTU. Debbie also worked with private developers such as Kaplan, Redoak and YMCA.

My role as Capital Project Manager she is currently working on various projects across the university estate. These include Chemistry laboratory space, Cripps Health Centre, Southwell Hall, Occupational Health, Human Performance Lab and the Cripps Dentist. 

Hugo Bloch sqHugo Bloch

Capital Projects Manager

I've worked in construction for over 35 years. Over that time I've gained qualifications covering bricklaying, general construction, site management, building surveying and project management.  

Prior to joining the University I've worked within local authorities, building consultancies, contractor side, architectural and private practices. My roles have been as varied ranging from minor works surveyor, special projects officer, space projects officer and currently within the capital projects team.  

Projects I've overseen are varied and diverse ranging from small works to major refurbishments, services upgrades and new builds from installing radioactive waste tanks to large scale glass houses, window replacements and labs (cat 2 & 3) /office upgrades, installed wind tunnels, driving simulators, feasibilities, sound recording studios.   

 

Annabel HolmesAnnabel Holmes

Estate Property Manager

Annabel has worked as a Chartered Surveyor for 20 years in both the licensed leisure sector for both Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises and Marston’s and in the public sector for the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency.  She has provided in house Landlord & Tenant insight and Estate Management advice.

She has been a member of the RICS since 2002 and has been a Registered Valuer since 2017, she joined the University in 2018 as Estate Property Manager. Annabel has been involved with letting space to third party tenants, securing rental income and acquisitions.
