I am a communications professional with more than 20 years experience in government and higher education, delivering communications strategy and leadership for high profile public figures and in large organisations. Skilled in media relations, staff engagement, stakeholder and public relations, I lead integrated teams and advise senior figures on communication and crisis management, and influence key stakeholders to support organisational goals. Prior roles include Sheffield Hallam University, Department for Education, Home Office and the Ministry of Defence.

Expertise Summary

I lead the team of experts in media relations, internal communications and political and public affairs in the Communications & Advocacy Division. Together we are responsible for promoting and protecting the University's reputation for excellence in research, teaching and operations in the UK and overseas.

Main areas of responsibility:

- advising VC and UEB on strategic communications issues;

- delivering proactive, reactive and crisis communications campaigns in support of the University's reputation;

- leading staff engagement communications, to encourage meaningful dialogue between staff and the University;

- encouraging high profile stakeholders to advocate the University's interests and reputation at the highest levels.
