Finance department - overview


Part of Financial and Business Services Department, Finance is split into 2 separate departments Financial Management and Financial Operations.

Financial Management

Through Finance Managers and Financial Accountants this team provides an effective and comprehensive financial management services.  This includes

  • the provision of professional advice
  • strategic reviews
  • information and services to: 
    • University Executive Board
    • Heads of Schools/School Managers and other members of staff across the University and associated subsidiary companies
    • External funding bodies

Financial Operations

This team provides an effective comprehensive financial operation service, including:

Paying staff, students and external suppliers:

  • Payments Services
  • Payroll Services
  • Pensions and Benefit Services
  • Tax Services including VAT and Corporation Tax
  • Travel and Expenses Services

Receive and invoice income for the University, manage debtors and process and reconcile bank account transactions.  Teams within this section are:

  • e-Payment Services including the Online Shop
  • Debt Services
  • Income Services including the provision of Cashiering, Banking and Invoicing Services
