From Potosí, Bolivia, she stood up at a tertulia and condemned the conduct of royalist General Goyeneche and the governor of Potosí, Fernando Campero de Ugarte. She was imprisoned and bound with chains and, almost naked, was put before a court in the plaza, then dragged to the Convente de las Recogidas and cloistered there. (Urquidi, 315-216)
