From Guanajuato, she was the daughter of María Ignacia Morentín. In 1811, a court of war ordered her to pay a 300 pesos fine and that she should be imprisoned in the convent of Santa Rosa de Querétaro for a year. Her mother appealed for her release on the grounds that she had contracted tuberculosis. (Miquel i Vergés, 415)
