Biography:
Born in Edinburgh 31 December 1788, he was made a Captain in 1817. His diaries of his travels amount to 9 volumes.

Extracts from A Journal Written on the Coasts of Chili, Peru, and Mexico, in the years 1820,1821, 1822, were published by Edward Moxon, Dover Street, London, 1840 in three volumes. Parts one and two are about Latin America, part three describes a voyage to China and Indonesia. Hall cites Robinson’s account of his time in Mexico, and mentions that Iturbide was in England from the end of 1823 to 11 May 1824. He describes the land, society and political situation in the early 1820s. He died in Haslar Hospital, 11 September 1844.
