Biography:
The daughter of General Salazar y Carrillo and Josefa Saénz de Ayala, an upper class Peruvian family that supported independence. She married General J. Ildefonso Coloma, also a patriot. She transported arms and ammunition through the streets. Her husband was killed in a street brawl during one of these missions. San Martín made her a member of the Orden del Sol. She had an unhappy widowhood, living as a recluse, only going out to fulfil religious duties. (García y García, 268-269)
