In August 1812 she was among a group of patriots who surrounded Barcelona, Venezuela, for a week after it had been retaken by royalists under Monteverde. There were several battles and she was killed on 12 August 1812 while tending to the wounded soldiers of both sides. (Monsalve, 69)
