Biography:
She was born in Buenos Aires on 15 July 1763. On 22 May 1781 she married Rafael de Sobremonte, secretary to Viceroy Vértiz. He became Governor of Córdoba. She was an energetic woman who worked with her husband. When the English invaded Buenos Aires (1808), she fled to Montevideo and remained there while de Sobremonte left for Spain until illness led her to move to the better climate of Rio de Janeiro. She died there on 21 May 1817. (Sosa de Newton, 345)
