The mother of Juan Manuel de Rosas, she was born in Buenos Aires 28 August 1769. Her father, Clemente López de Osornio, was killed by indigenous at his estancia El Rincón de López on the river Salado. She was a celebrated beauty who wore a friar's outfit after her father's death. On 30 September 1790 she married León Ortiz de Rosas they had 20 children, 5 died in infancy and 10 survived their parents. She was an energetic capable woman who directed rural work. Her children obeyed her, but Juan Manuel de Rosas left home after a clash with her. She was widowed in 1839 and spent years as an invalid, but continued to control the family business from her bed. She died on 12 December 1845. (Sosa de Newton, 362)
