Born in Buenos Aires, she was the daughter of Antonio Palacios and Pascuala López de Osornio, cousin of Rosas's mother. She married Pedro García, was widowed and married Francisco Castellote. During the English invasion of 1806 she asked her slaves to help her defend the city and they did so by pouring boiling oil from her roof. In 1810 she donated her jewels to buy arms for the patriot troops. (Sosa de Newton, 471-472)
