Biography:
Born in Buenos Aires, on 19 August 1823, she was the daughter of Angel Sánchez and Justa Foguet (of the Sociedad de Beneficencia), grandmother of writer Delfina Bunge de Gálvez. Family wealth enabled her to develop a vocation for art and science. M. Blondel was her art teacher. He and his wife taught her French language and literature. She became an artist, working during Rosas's rule. She painted a portrait of Rosas when she was aged 15 (1838). She was pained by Mauricio Ruegendas. She married Carlos de Arteaga, from Uruguay. She died in Buenos Aires in March 1883. (Sosa de Newton, 575-576)
