In 1788 she appealed to the courts accusing Pedro Ignacio Barguilla of seduction and breach of promise. He was imprisoned but won the case following his counter-claims of her licentious behaviour. Both were reprimanded by the courts. She increased Barguilla's time in prison by not sending back records to the court. (Díaz, 82-83, 90)
