Biography:
A Caracas women who, in October 1836, wrote to the municipal courts stating that the courts should take care of women who had been abandoned or abused by their husbands. She had been separated from her husband for over 5 years and needed legal permission to enable her to sell some property so that she could repair her house. The court advised her to seek her husband's permission to sell the property. He agreed, provided she invest the money from the sale into property. (Díaz, 143)
