Angélica de Gomes Jardim was the sister of the Farroupilha supporter and one time president of the Farroupilha Republic, José Gomes de Vasconcelos Jardim (b. 1784. d. 1854) She is renowned in Farroupilha folklore for having made the military uniforms for an entire corps of the Republican army, led by Antônio do Amaral Sarmento Mena, (Dutra da Silveira, 69) in the Farroupilha War of Rio Grande do Sul (1835-45).
