Wife of José Gomes de Vasconcelos Jardim, leader and one time president of the Farroupilha Republic, José Gomes de Vasconcelos Jardim (b. 1784. d. 1854). The mother of seven children, she shared her husband’s active commitment to the Republican cause during the Farroupilha War of Rio Grande do Sul (1835-45).
