From Lima, she was the mother of José de la Riva Agüero, director of Club de los Copetudos. She gave money to the independence cause. Patriots met in her house to discuss tactics and collate propaganda bulletins. With the help of her daughter Josefa Riva Agüero de Gálvez and her niece Catalina Sánchez Boquete they edited Boletines Pro Libertad. (Balta, 24)
