Biography:
She was born around 1797 (Grez describes her as aged 14 to 15 in 1811), from Santiago de Chile, the daughter of Agueda Monasterio de Lattapiat, she helped her mother write letters to the exiled republican troops. In 1817 her right hand was cut off by the Spanish authorities. (Grez, 67-70.)
