Biography:
Born in Grand Bourg, France on 14 July 1836, she married Mexican diplomat, Fernando Gutiérrez Estrada. She lived in Brunoy, close to Paris when widowed and created the Fundación Balcarce y Gutiérrez Estrada, an old people's home. She also organised a hospital during World War 1 and received a Legion of Honour from the French government. The last direct descendent of San Martín, she donated furniture and belongings from San Martín's house to the Museo Histórico Nacional. She died in Brunoy on 15 April 1924. (Sosa de Newton, 54)
