Faith Chan awarded national-level grant to investigate microplastics in urban rivers

Faith Chan, Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences, has been awarded a national-level grant to investigate microplastics in urban rivers supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) under the International Young Scientist programme.

This is a highly prestigious award and will involve a two year investigation to quantify key sources and pathways of microplastics in freshwater systems and to assess the exposure and eco-toxicological risks to aquatic invertebrate animals in Ningbo.

The project also involves colleagues from University of Nottingham Ningbo China (School of Geographical Sciences and NUBS), University of Nottingham (Matthew Johnson), University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (Chris Gibbins), University of Leeds (Paul Kay), and the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Gang Li and Jiangfeng Tang).
