Fees and Funding

Postgraduate research students are responsible for arranging their own funding to cover fees and living expenses. There are many different ways you might be able to fund your research studies including:

  • research councils
  • local authorities
  • career development loans
  • trusts and charities
  • school or faculty studentships and bursaries

The University postgraduate funding website is an excellent place to start looking for help with the cost of your postgraduate studies, providing information on scholarships and awards you may be eligible for. The key is to apply early for your course, giving yourself the maximum amount of time to track down funding.

Fully-funded PhD studentship in geography

The School of Geography at the University of Nottingham (UK) invites applications from suitably qualified students for a School of Geography PhD studentship to cover maintenance and fees for full-time study for three years beginning in Autumn 2018.

The successful applicant will be entitled to a full-time yearly stipend comparable to RCUK rates (circa £14,777 for 2018/2019) plus Home/EU tuition fees (ca. £4,260 for 2018/2019). Note these rates are updated each year and thus are subject to change. International tuition fees are substantially more and the school studentship does not provide additional funding to cover these.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 20 March 2018.
