The University of Nottingham joined the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) in 2017.

ECIU is a network of universities who are united by a common profile, by shared beliefs and interests and mutual trust.

The research-intensive universities aim to create societal impact through innovation and creativity, driving the development of a knowledge-based economy.

“The University of Nottingham has had university-industry relations in its mission statement for almost 90 years. In this way, the university combines an excellent scientific track record with entrepreneurship and innovation. Add to that the extensive relations the university has with Asia, and it is clear Nottingham strengthens ECIU as a whole”, Victor van der Chijs, President of the ECIU.

The University of Nottingham is the only British member of ECIU which comprises 12 international universities and one associate member in Mexico.
