School of Medicine

The Graduate School's Researcher Development Programme and the M&HS Faculty-specific Training Programme offer a broad range of research-based and transferable skills courses to support your professional and career development, whether you plan to pursue a career inside or outside of academia.

These courses are delivered by academics and researchers from within the Faculty as well as researcher development professionals from the Graduate School, Professional Development and Information Services.

The School of Medicine requires that all postgraduate research students enrolled on a doctoral programme attend a minimum number of training courses.

There are two approaches to completing your required training:

  • The FMHS (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) Training Programme (25 training points)
  • The N-Trans (Nottingham Translational Research) Training Programme (30 training points)

In consultation with your supervisor, you can choose which one of the two approaches you complete during your course of study. Students attached to BRUs (Biomedical Research Units) should discuss with their BRU director which method of training they are required to complete, but this would usually be the N-trans Training Programme.

Training courses run each academic year between November and the following July. Courses will be open for booking on 2 October 2017.

All the information needed on how to book your training courses and course descriptions are available on the FMHS and N-Trans webpages.
