Biography

I am a 1st Level Registered General Nurse and Non-Medical Prescriber with over twenty-two years' nursing experience gained in clinical practice. Whilst working as a newly qualified nurse, I followed an Access route into higher education and went on to successfully complete an undergraduate degree in Psychology. A number of years later, after progressing my nursing career to a senior clinical level, I resumed part-time academic study and achieved the award of Master of Science in Health Services Research.

My personal experiences of returning to learning as a mature student have greatly influenced my interests in, and attitudes towards, supporting the education of others. I have embraced the wealth of opportunities nurse education affords for engaging with non-traditional student bodies and the mainstay of my teaching and learning activity is now concentrated within graduate entry nursing modules and post-registration Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses.
