Accessing systems

I can’t log into Moodle, the Software Library or Parking Permits

Access to these resources require a fully activated IT account. If you have not set a password for your account, you will need to do this before logging in. Guidance for setting a password can be found here.

To access these systems, you will need to log in using your username (such as 'lixas5'), not your email address (such as 'lixas5@nottingham.ac.uk').

I can’t log into MyNottingham

To access MyNottingham, you will need to log in using your username (such as 'lixas5'), not your email address (such as 'lixas5@nottingham.ac.uk').

The username field when logging into MyNottingham is case sensitive. Please enter your username in all lowercase letters (if using a mobile phone, please note that the first letter is often automatically capitalised so you may need to change this).

I can’t access my email or Office 365 account

  1. To access your University Microsoft account (which includes email and the Office 365 portal) go to https://portal.office.com
  2. Log in using your email address (such as 'lixas5@nottingham.ac.uk'), not your username.

To access your email, click on the Outlook icon after logging in.

If you wish to access your email from your mobile phone, we advise using the Outlook app. When prompted, enter your email address and password.

I can’t see the registration banner when I log into MyNottingham

To register as a student in MyNottingham, you need to log in using your student username and password (the login details you were given after you activated your University IT account).  Using your applicant user id and password will only show you the options available to you as an applicant.

  • If you see 4 hexagons at the top of the screen when you’ve logged in, then you are viewing the applicant portal
  • If you see 6 hexagons at the top of the screen, you are viewing the student portal

If you are a returning student, the option to register will only become available once your progression from the previous year has been confirmed. If you are awaiting the results of resits, you will need to wait before being able to register. If you believe this should have already been confirmed, please contact Student Services to discuss this.

Viewing your timetable

Note: Semester 1 timetables will be available to view from Thursday 17 September via the master timetable. For more details, visit Teaching timetable.

My timetable is empty at https://timetabling.nottingham.ac.uk
Please contact Student Services. They can check to see if your timetable has been published.

My timetable is showing the wrong modules
Please contact Student Services. They can check to ensure you are enrolled on the correct modules and can make any necessary amendments.

I can see my timetable at https://timetabling.nottingham.ac.uk but it is empty in MyCal and the MyNottingham app

Once a timetable is published, the information can take a number of days (especially at the start of the year when a lot of data is being published) to reach MyCal and then the MyNottingham app.

If you can view your timetable at https://timetabling.nottingham.ac.uk but MyCal and MyNottingham app are still not showing your timetable after five days, please contact the IT Service Desk so we can rectify this.

Viewing your modules

I can’t see my modules in Moodle
The modules that appear in Moodle are determined by the modules that are shown on your student record.  If you are unable to see all of your modules, or can’t see the correct ones, please contact Student Services to discuss this.

I can’t find the module enrolment option in MyNottingham

If your course only has compulsory modules, then you don’t need to select any modules and this option won’t be available to you.

The module enrolment window is only open for a specific period which will be advertised on the module enrolment web pages.  Outside of this window, you will not see the option to enrol in MyNottingham.

If you are unable to see the module enrolment option when the module enrolment window is open and your course has optional modules that you should choose from, please contact Student ServicesFurther guidance can be found on the module enrolment web pages
