Brexit and applying for job vacancies

Our University is dedicated to supporting all of our potential applicants, current employees and students throughout the Brexit process. We will continue to be a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community that celebrates diversity every day. We have staff and students from countries around the world, and we will continue to welcome new staff into our inclusive community, wherever they are from.

If you are already in the UK or arriving before 31 October 2019

EU colleagues and applicants who are already working here or are arriving before 31 October 2019 can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme for pre-settled or settled status and this continues to be the most straightforward way to evidence an ongoing right to live, work and/or study in the UK, with a deadline for applications of 31 December 2020 in the event of no-deal.

Although there is still time to make an application for settled status, in view of some of the implementation challenges ahead, you may decide to proceed with an application sooner rather than later, particularly if you have plans for international travel over the coming months.

To make an application to the scheme please visit https://www.gov.uk/eusettledstatus

If you require support with this or have any queries or concerns about how the latest announcements might affect you or your family, please do not hesitate to contact us for further advice at hrbrexitadvice@nottingham.ac.uk

If you are arriving in the UK after 31 October 2019

If you have secured a post with the University or are looking to join the University and will be entering the UK after 31 October 2019 you will need to secure additional documentation to demonstrate your right to live, work and/ or study in the UK.

You will need to make an application to remain in the UK for work or study purposes in accordance with the new forthcoming immigration rules.  The application routes that are available to you will depend on a number of factors, including the type of role you are considering applying for. Although the detail of the new immigration rules is yet to be announced, if you have any queries or concerns about how the forthcoming changes may impact on an offer of employment you have already received, or an opportunity you would like to apply for, please do not hesitate to contact us at hrbrexitadvice@nottingham.ac.uk
