Salary
£31406 to £40927 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The Language Centre, based within the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies, is seeking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Spanish to cover maternity leave on a 0.8 FTE (29 hours per week) basis to cover the period 31 January 2022 to 27 January 2023.

The role holder will be responsible for teaching beginners’ level and post GCSE Spanish. Administrative duties are also an expectation of the role, and these are likely to include acting as convenor for Spanish modules and contributing to enrolment sessions for new students. Other duties will include the production of examinations and continuous assessments materials as well as marking and second marking.

Candidates should have a degree in Spanish or an equivalent qualification, native or near native command of Spanish and a PGCE, PGCHE or equivalent teaching qualification. A proven track record in university teaching and experience in convening modules is essential, as is experience in designing syllabi and examinations from beginners to post GCS Spanish language modules. Candidates should also have the ability to deliver interactive language teaching to multicultural groups and be a competent user of IT for teaching, administration and material development.
