Applications are invited for the above post within the Human Factors Research Group and as part of PASSME project. PASSME is funded by the European Commission and is in collaboration with a number of national and European research and industrial partners. PASSME aims to design and implement industry-driven and passenger-centric innovative solutions and services to enhance passenger experience and optimise information, passenger and processes flow.

The University of Nottingham is widely involved throughout the duration of the project but has particular responsibility in requirements elicitation that will lead to the PASSME model definition. The University of Nottingham is also leading the iterative evaluation tasks of the developed PASSME technologies for the duration of the project.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day work on the project, with and under the supervision of the principal research fellow and the principal investigator (PI). The post holder will be conducting work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research (e.g. lab-based studies, field studies, interviews, focus groups, sensor-based studies, observation studies) and -as appropriate- conducting and supporting evaluation studies. The post holder will also be responsible for contributing in writing up associated work reports (e.g. internal reports, project deliverables, research reports and publications). The project will involve collaboration with other academic institutions, industry (e.g. airports) and passenger groups.

The successful candidate will be part of the Human Factors Research Group and will report to Prof. Sarah Sharples and Dr Genovefa Kefalidou. This successful research team consists of around 50 researchers and staff. The work undertaken by the Human Factors Research Group (HFRG - includes understanding the interactions between people, system and products in a variety of application domains.

Candidates should have, as a minimum, a postgraduate degree (e.g. MSc) and a PhD (close to submission/ submitted or awarded) or equivalent in a relevant area in human factors/ ergonomics, HCI, psychology, product design or other relevant discipline. The ability to analyse and present quantitative and qualitative data, interpret and evaluate reports and texts, and work within a team are essential.

This full-time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until the end of PASSME project on 31 May 2018 and is available to start immediately. Job share arrangements may be considered for this post.
