- £26495 to £28936 per annum (pro-rata if offered part time) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
Applications are invited for the above post based at University Park. The successful candidate will join a team working on the first two stages of a new 6-year NIHR Programme for Applied Research (PGfAR) in which we will develop and refine an intervention to improve pregnant smokers’ adherence to and use of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).
Dr Felix Naughton is overall lead for the first two PGfAR work streams; he is based with other PGfAR researchers at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and researchers from both universities comprise an integrated research team.The appointee will work on clearly-specified PGfAR component studies with other researchers based in Nottingham and UEA contributing to studies’ design, implementation and conduct. The successful candidate will work particularly closely with Dr Ross Thomson who is leading for programme work delivered at the University of Nottingham.
Our group has a team-orientated approach to the delivery of research projects and the appointed candidate will also be encouraged to contribute, as required, to other research studies being run by the group, depending on time available, and their interest, skills and experience.
The post holder must be willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and duties as a team member, and be able to travel within the UK as required for study site training, support and monitoring.
Candidates must have a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject; they must also have knowledge or experience of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and a desire to apply these.The successful candidate will need to have excellent team working and organisational skills together with the ability to relate to and communicate clearly, sensitively and effectively with people from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. A strong demonstrable interest in smoking and/or pregnancy research or similar public health issues would be advantageous.
This full time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 22 months, applications are welcome from candidates wishing to work part time to a minimum of 0.8 FTE (29 hours per week). Please indicate your preference on the application.
