£30395 to £39609 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

This post provides an opportunity for the role holder to apply and develop skills within the fields of e-commerce, bioinformatics and systems biology. The NASC project (running since 1991) has over one million complex biological items in a bespoke not-for-profit e-commerce site distributing ~150,000 physical items p/a worldwide.

The successful candidate will ensure that our virtualised germplasm resources, online catalogue, underlying SQL database(s) and associated APIs and RESTful Web Services are developed, curated and proactively deployed. They will also participate in the management of our programmer/curator team and lead a project to federate our services in harmony with longstanding US collaborators.

Candidates must have a higher degree or equivalent apprenticeship in bioinformatics or a computer science. A good working knowledge of LINUZ/UNIX Windows and MacOSX is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate significant skills in PERL, MySQL and Servoy.

Evidence of individual drive, practical initiative, operational responsibility and proven aptitude for teamwork will be advantageous.

This is a fixed-term post until 31 October 2021, available immediately. Hours of work are full-time, however job share arrangements may be considered.
