£29799 to £38833 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the above post to join with Mathematical Sciences staff and Engineering and Physical Sciences (FEPS) staff in delivering and developing an integrated mathematics provision targeted at students at a foundation year level. 

A well-established FEPS provision is currently supported by an extensive mathematics component delivered by staff based in the School of Mathematical Sciences. Typically students are enrolled on an extended degree programme providing entry level qualification to Engineering and Sciences degrees at Nottingham or elsewhere.

This post is to support a significant enhancement of the Foundation provision including the recruitment of additional overseas students progressing to Engineering Undergraduate programmes over the next few years. The plan includes a new dedicated teaching and learning base for the Foundation provision in early 2018.

The successful candidate will join an existing team delivering high-quality teaching and assessment activities. In addition, an extended role is to assist with enhancement of integration of mathematics within the provision through academic tutoring, collating and providing local learning materials to foundation students. Ideally, we are looking for teachers who can maintain the interest of students through interactive activities and share an enthusiasm for mathematics learning development and its applications at this level.Integrated use will be made of existing e-learning and e-support facilities. 

This post will enable further and enhanced integration of the mathematical provision within the Foundation programme through collaboration with the FEPS Team headed by the Head of Department, FEPS. Additionally this will include first-hand involvement with the provision of academic tutoring, monitoring student progress and the development of appropriate pedagogically-based teaching materials and delivery.

Candidates must have recent experience of teaching mathematics at GCE A Level (or equivalent).Teaching and learning experience in FE, Sixth-Form College or HE is highly desirable.

This position is available on a part-time (0.5FTE) contract and hours of work are 18.125 hours per week.  The teaching timetable for next term is not yet confirmed, but the working pattern must include the timetabled contact hours from Monday to Friday.  This post is available from 1 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31st July 2018.
