A unique and exciting role has emerged from the University of Nottingham’s growing collaboration with GSK and strategy for developing its new Centre for Sustainable Chemistry. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral research fellow to play a key role within a new research group that will be focussed upon applied medicinal and sustainable chemistry. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Helen Sneddon and Dr. Simon Macdonald (GSK) to establish and deliver a portfolio of projects of direct relevance to the pharmaceutical industry.Our goals are ambitious and we would envisage the successful candidate participating in research that would have a high profile both within the University and GSK.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager (Chemistry), the role holder will be required to undertake a programme of laboratory work including compound synthesis and characterisation. They will also provide day to day supervision of research students. 

Candidates must have a PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline some experience of Synthetic Organic, Green and Sustainable, or Medicinal Chemistry and experience of working in industry. 

This full-time post is available immediately and will be offered initially on a fixed-term contract for a period of two years and six months. Subject to satisfactory progress, there is potential for the role to be extended beyond this initial appointment.
