Director of Research & Knowledge Exchange Excellence and Strategy
A unique opportunity to join the Research & Innovation (R&I) leadership team and to drive a step change in research and knowledge exchange (KE) performance.
The Research and Innovation team provide comprehensive support throughout the research and innovation lifecycle, from first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships. The team provide invaluable guidance and expert advice to support the delivery of the University’s research and knowledge exchange strategies. Following significant investment by the university, a restructure of the directorate has created a new Director of Research & Knowledge Exchange Excellence and Strategy position.
As the inaugural Director of Research & Knowledge Exchange Excellence and Strategy, you will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the university’s Research and Knowledge Exchange strategic delivery plans (SDPs), working in partnership with Faculties, R&I Directors, Policy Planning and the Strategic Change Unit. You will also lead and manage the processes for all external statutory reporting across research and KE and provide research performance analytics and benchmarking data to support evidence-led decision making at an institutional and faculty level.

The role
We are seeking a dynamic leader who will bring together this newly formed team and create a culture of performance excellence. This is a complex enviroment, so the ability to effectively manage ambiguity and to develop strong stakeholder relationships will be key.
You will bring in depth knowledge and understanding of university activities and objectives gained through extensive experience in a university setting, along with a political awareness and ability to promote the research and KE agendas at a strategic level internally and with external partners.
This is a permanent full time role, but we will consider applications from candidates who wish to work part-time (minimum 0.8).
